Shattered is book 2 in the Alaskan Courage series. The story starts off that a woman has been slain in her room and the prime suspect is Reed McKenna. Pipper McKenna believes her brother to be innocent and sets out to prove it along with the rest of the McKenna clans and several people who are almost family to the McKennas. Landon works takes a leave from his job as an officer of the law so that he can help Piper.

Authors will tell you that their books can be read as a stand alone but I think it is helpful to read the previous book. Landon loves Piper but it did not start in this book. It started in the previous book.
The romance was done exceptionally well in this book. Landon loved Piper and Piper came to realize she loved Landon but they were afraid for a while to let the other one know.

The search for the real murderer kept me in suspense. The trail took many directions and many places. Kept me turning pages until the end! We were introduced to a new character in this book who was Darcy. I think Darcy is going to be the love interest of Gage in the next book. They already care for each other as friends.
